Origin of The Birthday Celebration
I recently read a post where someone stated that they were going to celebrate the Birth of Christ, and that it was necessary to honor his Birth. They went on to say, “We honor his death so we ought to honor his birth.” There is no doubt that Christ was born and that he came into this world to save mankind. But man has created a celebration that was never authorized by the Father or the Son. You never see any one of his followers talking about it or observing it. In fact, most that read the Bible don’t even understand the various events that occurred on and around his birth. For example, the wise men were sent with Gifts and they presented them to the Christ child. But Herod was an ungodly man, presenting presents to someone was not a righteous practice among the Saints of God during biblical times. The Bible never called them “Godly Men”, but they were wise among Herod. People use this one event in the Bible in an attempt to justify giving gifts at birthdays and at Christmas time. Why did wise men bring gifts to a child who was too young to appreciate them in the first place? Giving gifts was a custom that was attributed to kings.
Matthew 2:2 tells us that the wise men came looking for a king. When Christ was born, the Jews already had a king, Herod, which ruled them over the Roman authority. The wise men, who came seeking Christ asked, “Where is He who is born King of the Jews, for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” (Matthew 2:2). They did not ask where they could find the Christ, the messiah, or the Son of God. They were following the customs of presenting gifts to royalty or one destined to be a ruling monarch. Of course, King Herod was threatened by this and it was a threat to his throne.

Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. (Matthew 2:12)

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. (Matthew 2:13)
It always amazes me when I see people celebrating feast and festivals in God’s name although he never started or authorized them to do so, but they refuse to keep the feast days that are in the Bible, which says that they must be observed forever. I found an excellent post about 6 years ago and rather than rewriting it, I thought that I would just give an excerpt so that you can understand clearly the origins behind one of the biggest anti-Christ celebration that man loves so much.
“Simple things, like birthday celebrations, have infiltrated our daily lives as Christians. Each and every one of us looks forward to that special day when we are acknowledged and held in high regard because it is our birthday. It seems like a completely innocent idea, but the birthday celebration, like almost every other aspect of our daily lives, has a pagan origin.
In ancient times, festivities were only held for kings, leaders, and gods. There was always much pomp and ceremony involved with these celebrations because they were meant to honor people or beings highly esteemed. Parades and circuses were held, and in Rome, even gladiatorial matches were conducted to commemorate these occasions. Common men and women were not permitted to celebrate their birthdays because they were strictly reserved for the affluent and the divine.
This activity progressed slowly in compliance with the Satanist movement and the following selection details the attitude that was prevalent among the masses. The Satanist feels:
“Why not really be honest. If you are going to create a god in your image, why not create that god as yourself? Every man is a god if he chooses to recognize himself as one.”
So, the Satanist celebrates his own birthday as the most important holiday of the year. After all, aren’t you happier about the fact that you were born than you are about the birth of someone you have never even met? Or for that matter, aside from religious holidays, why pay higher tribute to the birthday of a president or to a date in history than we do to the day we were brought into this world?
Slowly, birthday celebrations became more common, and everyday people took part in an activity that had Satanist origins. In Assyria and Babylon, recording the time of birth was important because of their fixation on the stars, 
constellations, and horoscopes. At the time of birth, lives, duties, and occupations were predicted for each individual according to the correspondence of the birthday with the position of heavenly bodies. This practice is even more widespread in modern times than it was back then. People often resign themselves to their horoscopes and physiologically confine themselves to the vague predictions given.
Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. (Leviticus 19:31)
Other common birthday observances, like the birthday cake, are also derivations of old pagan practices. Even the custom of lighting candles on a cake comes from ancient times, when people were known to pray over the open fire. They were convinced that the smoke from the flames carried their thoughts, prayers, and unsaid desires to the gods. Nowadays, one blows out the candles with a specific wish in mind, hoping that it will come true. Clearly, there is an obvious, undeniable parallel between the early custom and our own.”
Have you ever wondered why the only birthday celebrations recorded in the Bible are those of ungodly leaders like Pharaoh (Gen. 40:20) and Herod (Matt.14:6)? Even though the birth of Christ is recorded in great detail in the Bible, the exact date is never mentioned. It is fairly certain that December 25th, a day set aside by the entire world, is not, in fact, his birthday. The birth date of the Son of God was deliberately intertwined with pagan birthday celebrations for the sun god.
Mention of birthday celebrations in the Bible are scattered and very scarce. In fact, the scripture makes a particularly resolute statement about birthdays. In Ecclesiastes 7:1, it says, “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.” This implies that the examination of a person’s worth and the merit of his entire life should take precedence over the celebration of his birth because, at this point, he has done nothing significant with his existence. When a person dies and has lived life to its fullest while serving God, it only seems right to honor him.
This is just another example of how we take part in so many evil practices without being fully aware of their significance or origins. Birthdays do not seem to be wicked, but we will never know where these simple things came from if we do not take an active interest in investigating the things we are involved in.
