A MESSAGE TO THE LOST SHEEP

Although most who believe in Christ celebrate it, Easter-Sunday was not observed by the early Church. They observed Passover. Although the Bible does mention that Christ was resurrected, it never once suggests that his resurrection is to be observed as some type of holiday. Christ specifically mentioned that Christians were to observe the Passover as He did. (Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 5:7-8; 1 Peter 2:21)Where’s the biblical connection of Easter to the resurrection of Christ? And why didn’t Christ teach His disciples to observe Easter when he was with them nor did he command it when they were sent out on what is called the great commission (Matthew 28:19)? It’s understandable that people want to show a good gesture by remembering what Christ did on the cross but as hard as it is for most to accept,  Christ only wanted man to acknowledge him in the way that he commanded. He knows how he wanted to be loved and remembered.  It’s amazing how people want to serve him according to their own desire, but refuse to serve him according to his desire.

Ask the average Christian why he or she holds to a particular belief or practice, and you’ll probably get a blank stare. “It’s a tradition,” some might answer. Or, “The church teaches it.” But the fact is, most people don’t have a clue as to the origin of much of what they embrace as truth. Typically, people tend to just accept what they are told—without thinking, simply because it is part of the status quo.

Originally, there were some very pagan (and sometimes utterly evil) practices that went along with the celebration of Easter. Today, Easter is almost a completely commercialized holiday, with all the focus on Easter eggs and the Easter bunny being remnants of the goddess worship.

Within Christianity, Easter has come to mean the celebration of the resurrection of Christ three days after His crucifixion. Because of the commercialization and pagan origins of Easter, many churches prefer to refer to it as “Resurrection Sunday.” The rationale is the more we focus on Christ and the less we focus on the pagan holiday, the better.

The Bible said that God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) The Father does not accept worship that has pagan origin (Jeremiah 10:2) nor does he accept worship in which man has incorporated their own traditions (Matthew 15:1-9). Unfortunately, most never knew that adding their traditions to the Bible is a sin (Revelation 22:18-19). Repent and come out of Babylon!
