We all know one (or more) of those super sanctified, blessed and highly favored, filled with the Holy Ghost covered in chocolate with an extra two piece and a biscuit and a cherry on top (and probably a few other GREAT things included) folks. These are the people who have been saved since the days of Abraham, Isaac, Shadrach, Meschach and #TheBillyGoat.billygoat

Don’t act like you don’t know one…(or maybe you are one)…we all do. Now I know that all church going people are not like this but for the sake of this article we are going to call them “Church Folks.”

The problem……. well okay ONE of the problems with Church Folks is that many times they keep people who have good intentions on becoming saved from even wanting to come to church. In this post we are going to talk about the top 4 reasons that Church Folks make people not want to come to church. I hope that after reading this that if you are guilty of any of these offenses that you will repent…..

1. You will never be as saved as they are

Church Folks have been saved since before saved was even saved. When God said let there be light and said it was good Church Folks cosigned like “Yep it real is good God. You put your foot in that light.” Seriously how could you ever think that you could be worthy of even reading a bible verse from Matthew when Church Folks actually walked the streets with him? They knew Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Daniel and all the Lions too. So step your salvation game up because Church folks are out here with the game on lock!

2. They always know who the preacher is talking about

You know how the preacher gets into their sermon and hits that good point? You know the one when there is someone in the congregation feeling real guilty about what they did last week? Well Church Folks always know who that person is and they have to tell you about it. gossipWhen the preacher says “somebody is afraid to open their bible and read it outside of church”, Church Folks will tell you “Oh yeah that’s brother John. He never reads his bible and comes in here acting like he knows something. He ain’t as saved as me you know because I know Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and them.” Or when the preacher says “Some of you aren’t bringing your tithes to the storehouse…” Church folks say “MmmmmHmmm that’s sister Mary. She got all that money to get that new hair do but she don’t pay no tithes.” Yep Church folks are able to read the mind of the preacher…but the preacher is never talking about them though….that’s another story.

3. They tell the preacher “take your time”

We have all been there. That moment when the preacher says “give me 5 more minutes” when their sermon has already been 2 hours and 39 minutes long and you know 5 more minutes means at least half an hour. Church Folks church-asleepare the first to say “No take your time preacher! Then they turn to their neighbor and complain about how hot it is in
the church and how they need to get the AC fixed. They complain about all the money they put into the building fund and can’t understand why the building can’t get a new air conditioning…..then you realize that you missed at least the last 10 minutes of what the preacher had to say because Church folks were complaining.

4. They ALWAYS know the answer even when they don’t know the answer

Church folks swear they know everything and nobody else has the same bible they read from. For example the preacher says “How many people know who betrayed Christ? Many people raise their hand but the Church Folks will yell out “It was Jebediah!” Then the preacher says I don’t believe y’all don’t know it was Judas. Then Church folks say “Yep y’all don’t know about how Judas and Jebediah worked together to betray Jesus? Read your bible it is in 5th Thessalonians. I’m not going to show you, you need to find it yourself. MmmHmm you better tell them preacher!”

The moral of the story here is…Don’t let yourself be discouraged by Church Folks. You have to go in and receive your nourishment and try to avoid those that will try to spiritually drain you. Oh and on another note…..Don’t be slapped with the title of being one of these Church Folks either!

With Love 🙂
